Dawson Racing’s D3+Transformers Team Tops the Points Charts in the D3esports Cup Championship Virtual Races

Houston, TEXAS, July 21, 2020…In Round 4 of the D3eSports Cup series, the Dawson Racing D3+Transformers team ably captured victories in all three of the 12-lap races. D3+Transformers Pro-Am driver Nelson Mason captured two victories, while Ben Whetstone, in the red D3+Transformers entry, took the third victory after a strong focus to battle from the back of the field after a tough start all the way to the podium.

The D3eSports Cup Round 4 competition of Races 10, 11 and 12 raced on the iconic 3.7-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway in Central Florida. Dawson Racing’s other two drivers, Pablo Gonzales and Don Magnusson split the fourth-place finish with Magnusson taking two and Gonzales one, along with a fifth-place finish as competition continued to be fierce.

Mason, from Niagara Falls, Canada and a professional racer, and Whetstone, of Houston, Texas, and Dawson’s Racing’s data engineer, have dominated the new D3eSports Cup series, capturing six victories each.

“It’s really no surprise that Nelson and Ben have conquered and led the D3eSports Cup championship series,†said Simon Dawson, VP Marketing, Dawson Racing. “We selected them to drive and represent our D3+Transformers virtual race team because they both are involved in racing and are gamers who understand the depth of crossing over between virtual and real. We put this team together, along with Pablo and Don, to display our association with Hasbro and the Transformers brand while we were not racing on the track because of the pandemic. We are proud of the dedication they have shown in the series and also the guidance they have given to the other competitors who don’t have nearly the experience and understand that they do. The next D3eSports Cup will compete virtually at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Braselton, Georgia on Sunday, July 26 at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
